Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about dry eye therapies and treatments.
What causes dry eye?
Dry eye is a complex condition with two main forms: Evaporative (caused by blocked oil glands/MGD) and Aqueous Deficient (low tear production). Common triggers include aging, hormonal changes, autoimmune conditions, medications (like antihistamines), digital eye strain, and environmental factors.
How does NuLids Pro help dry eye?
NuLids Pro uses a gentle micro-exfoliation tip to clean the eyelid margins and stimulate the meibomian glands. This removes biofilm build-up and improves the flow of natural oils needed for a healthy tear film.
What are Scleral Lenses?
Scleral lenses are large-diameter contact lenses that vault over the cornea and rest on the white part of the eye (sclera). They create a fluid reservoir that continuously hydrates the eye, making them ideal for chronic dry eye and corneal diseases like keratoconus.
Is IPL therapy safe for eyes?
Yes, Lumenis OptiLight IPL is the first and only FDA-approved light therapy for the management of dry eye due to MGD. It uses safe, controlled light pulses to reduce inflammation and bacterial load around the eyes.
